FY26 EACC CCPS NEGOTIATED AGREEMENT Article 11 – Control and Discipline
Assault on a Teacher by a Student:
- Assault shall be defined as intentional physical touching or threat of physical touching by another individual. (Article 11.6)
- If an employee experiences damage or loss to personal property resulting in an assault, the Board will reimburse the employee for that damage up to $500. (Article 6.H)
- Teachers will be required to complete a referral to school administration for any student assaults other students or school employees. (Article 11.6)
- After the student is removed because of assault, a re-admit conference must be conducted until the student is sent back to the class. (Article 11.6.a)
- Assault leave may be granted to employees if Workers’ Compensation is not granted. (Article 19)
Separate from this policy, teachers have the right to file assault charges with the sheriff, file for a Peace Order, or pursue other civil remedies as they see fit.
